River Objects
Conte Pierre Noire charcoal pencil over ink wash on Arches watercolor paper.
These drawings are elements from a larger work on the subject of the San Joaquin River. Each object was found in or near the San Joaquin River, or is a tool used to control the river. The original drawings are rendered precisely the same size as their subjects: the tree branch, for example, is over nine feet in length. I have digitally isolated these drawings from the larger mural context.
